Policies

The Kirk provides memorial services for Kirk members and their immediate family, free of charge.

A pastor will meet with the family to help plan the service and guide you through this process.

The pastor will also officiate the graveside service or Columbarium interment if requested.

Most services are held Monday through Thursday between 10am and 3pm.

We do request these standard honorariums:
Pastors - $300
Musician (ie: organist, pianist, guitar, etc) - $200
Soloist - $150
Sound Tech - $200
Facilities - $150

We do request that you prepare individual checks or cash sealed in an envelope with the recipient's name on front as this is not run through payroll.

We want to celebrate the miracle of the resurrection and honor your family member during the service. We can include any type of video presentation during the service and/or reception. Please bring the file to the office at least three days before the service so we can make sure the presentation is displayed properly.

We prefer not to have any type of viewing of your loved one at the church.

What We Offer

The Kirk provides these items for the service: The pastor, a bulletin, ushers, a reception including finger foods, easels for pictures, and guest book pages, if needed.

Our faithful care & concern volunteers make memorial services successful so that your family can focus on your guests.

The ushers/greeters make the church look its best for your guests. They arrange the flowers on the altar. They greet your guests and hand out the memorial bulletins. They make sure you walk away with everything you need.

The reception volunteers purchase the food, set up the reception, serve your guests, and clean up after the reception. They provide fruit, cheese and crackers, finger foods, and cookies. If you would like something additional, you may provide it and our volunteers will serve it.

You may bring pictures to display during the reception.

You may show a video/PowerPoint presentation during the service or reception. Please make sure to get the file to the office at least three days before the service begins.

Would you like to include a photo of your loved one or a picture of the cross on the cover of the bulletin? *

We can scan a photo (please bring it when you meet with the pastor) or email a digital copy to clund@thekirk.com. If not, we will use a picture of a cross.

Do you have a special poem or scripture you would like to include in the bulletin? It isn't necessary, but we have room on the back of the bulletin to include a poem, scripture or even an extra picture.

Do you have any large printed pictures you would like to display during the service? We have easels for that purpose. Would you like a table or easels or both for photos?

Will you need pages for your guest book? *

If you are bringing a book, please bring it to the church an hour and a half before the service.

If someone calls about sending flowers, do you want flowers or would you prefer memorials be made? *

People often send flowers or give memorials as a way to honor the family. Consider if you would like to receive flowers or if you would prefer memorials be made. Be sure to get the name and address of where you would like the memorials to go. Even if you ask for memorials, you will receive flowers.

Columbarium in our Meditation Garden *

The Kirk is blessed to have a Columbarium in our Meditation Garden. Niches are still available for single ($2,000) or double urns ($3,200). Please see Carrie Lund, clund@thekirk.com, to learn more about this option. Are you interested in a Columbarium?
